I am based in Germany, where I live with my wife Barbara, our two boys, and pinscher mix Pedro. I spend my days working from home as Principal Engineer at Syde.
In my spare time, I am working on our house. We bought it in early 2019, moved in after half a year, but there’s still a lot that needs doing. That’s both the planned stuff and the occasional thing that just happens…
Currently, I am listening to the Blackout audio drama by Marc Elsberg, as well as select tech podcasts such as Syntax.fm by Wes Bos and Scott Tolinski, and Jack Rhysider’s Darknet Diaries.
For Christmas two years ago, we’ve given ourselves the Ring Fit Adventure game as a family present. Since then, the boys and I have been (indirectly) challenging each other, and we all love to somewhat regularly run and jump and fight and sweat in front of the TV. I’ve been a member of a local gym for years, but I never went. Ring Fit Adventure has replaced the gym for me.
Winding down after work or an evening dog walk or bringing the kids to bed, I enjoy watching Cracking The Cryptic. About ten years ago, I solved sudoku puzzles on a daily basis. But at some point, I just lost interest. In the first weeks of COVID, early 2020, I came across some random CTC video on YouTube, and I got hooked instantly. Since then, I have been constantly following the channel’s classic and variant sudokus, at least two times a week, oftentimes almost-daily. I also must have solved more than 1,500 sudokus myself in the last four years.
